The Five Elements · Autumn
The Metal Element
Metal is the energy of autumn: the season of letting go. It governs the Lungs, which take in what's fresh, and the Large Intestine, which releases what's no longer needed. Balanced Metal lets you honor what matters and release the rest. Out of balance, it shows up as holding on, through perfectionism, unprocessed grief, or a tight chest.

What helps
Simple ways to support Metal
- Breathe slowly and fully, especially long exhales
- Clear out a closet, a drawer, or an old commitment
- Create a small ritual to honor a loss
- Spend time in fresh air
- Let something be good enough instead of perfect
Metal and grief often come up quietly in sessions. There's no need to talk about it for the body to start letting go.
