The Five Elements · Summer

The Fire Element

Fire is the energy of summer: warmth, light, and connection. It governs the Heart, which in Traditional Chinese Medicine houses the mind and spirit. Balanced Fire feels like genuine joy and easy connection with others. Out of balance, it can burn too hot, with restlessness and anxiety, or burn out entirely.

What helps

Simple ways to support Fire

  • Laugh, and spend time with people who feel easy to be around
  • Wind down slowly before bed, with dim light and no screens
  • Practice heart-opening stretches and slow breathing
  • Notice small joys during the day and let them land
  • Set gentle boundaries around how much you give

Fire imbalances often show up as sleep trouble and a mind that won't quiet down. Sessions focus on calming and grounding.
